A discussion on TechCrunch

Today a TechCrunch writer posted An iPhone Lover’s Take On The Nexus One, and I decided to add a comment, and reply to one:

My comment:

Completely agree with all. About the Google apps, if you live outside the US you’re not missing a thing, since Google Voice only works there, and you can always add the GMail bookmark to your home screen, the other Google apps are not that essential.

The other comment (not mine):

Apparently, MG prefers a phone with slower processor, less RAM, non replaceable battery, non upgradable storage space, no multitasking outside of core apps, no Flash support, crappy phone network, no voice input in all text fields, no open-source core, smaller screen size, lower resolution, and very little customizability.

My reply:

“slower processor”, even though it has slower processor, the iPhone’s UI is so much smoother and faster than Android’s, Androir’s UI is so clunky…

“non upgradable storage space”, lol, 16 or 32 gigs are enough compared to the 4 you get.

“no multitasking outside od core apps”, what’s the point of running multiple apps at a time if it makes your phone so slow?

“crappy phone network”, sorry but that’s US only, rest of the world is fine.

“no voice input in all text fields”, are you really talking instead of typing all the time? I really don’t dig that speaking thing much…

“no open-source core”, lol, this is a weak point, proprietary software normally delivers much better quality in less time, at the end of the day you’re not even paying extra for the OS if you compare the price of the devices, and having all those devices running the same OS is just a pain for app developers.

The rest of your arguments: “meh, don’t care if that’s missing or if it’s there”.
